A fundamental theorem of M\"urmann \cite{Mm} characterizing equilibrium distributions of physical clusters is reconsidered. We recover this result by means of the integration by parts formula approach to Gibbs processes due to Nguyen Xuan Xanh and Hans Zessin \cite{NZ}.
